Just this side of heaven is
a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that
has been especially close
to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills
for all of our special
friends so they can run and
play together.
There is plenty of food,
water and sunshine, and
our friends are warm and
comfortable.
All the animals who had been
ill and old
are restored to health and
vigor; those who
were hurt or maimed are made
whole and
strong again, just as we
remember them in
our dreams of days and times
gone by.
The animals are happy and
content, except for
one small thing; they each
miss someone very
special to them, who had
to be left behind.
They all run and play together,
but the day comes
when one suddenly stops and
looks into the
distance. His bright eyes
are intent; His eager
body quivers. Suddenly he
begins to run from
the group, flying over the
green grass, his
legs carrying him faster
and faster.
You have been spotted, and
when you and your
special friend finally meet,
you cling together
in joyous reunion, never
to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon
your face; your
hands again caress the beloved
head, and
you look once more into the
trusting eyes
of your pet, so long gone
from your life
but never absent from your
heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge
together....

"FOREVER
PINKY"
by Arleen Rooney
Vital signs became critical
and tests to seek
Inconclusive causes
and conditions became bleak
You grew very tired
and your heart was so weak
You gave permission for
me to let you go
I trusted in my heart
you would let me know
Ten days short of age
twenty-seven
You chose to leave and
go to heaven
You were ready to journey
to a new realm
Where no saddle, bridle,
bit or rein need overwhelm
Your free exuberant
spirit could soar
Vibrant, shining and
clear, fettered no more
Appy of the plains -
shine in the sun
Kick up your heels,
whinny, go and run
Great Spirit sets you
free
But look back and see
me
In earthbound's continued
sojourn
Pinky in spirit sometime
do return
When into the sunset
I stride
Meet me on the far distant
side
Then once more together
we'll ride
No further partings to
end
Arleen and Pinky best
friends
Pinky, Arleen and Cassidy.
Good
memories.

The sun shines where
the heart is
The spirit is where
the warmth is
All that is gone is
just a step away
Into a new day
We are only guests upon
this mortal earth
It is towards heaven
we will find our full birth
This is a journey rough
and tough
For human and creature
But God made us all
and He loves us so much
Journey not alone
for spirits will be
with you
as you travel into eternity
my dear Cassidy
I treasure our close
ties
from birth until passing
into the new divide
I cry now because my
spirit is weak
I know that I shall
miss you very much
I trust that you will
be
with your mother, Pinky
Who passed away two
years ago this month
Cassidy’s little smile,
his comical ways
Will be with me for
the rest of my earthly days
I know not why he must
go so young
I only know that I must
judge
that it is time for
him to go
Dear little boy who grew
to be so big
He was a sweetheart
from the beginning
He was the best of the
best
And he always did win
When shown in halter
he did his fair share
When he was shown under
saddle
None could compare
He was a good trail
horse in his younger days
Until arthritis and
lameness took away his best days
I love you so much Cassidy
I don’t know what to
say
Parting from you is
more then I can bear
But what can I do, I
must do what is right
And in my heart I feel
it is so
To let you go

A Reflection
Gray skies match my eyes
As I stare into space
Thinking of how
I’ll ever fill your
space
Here on earth
Cassidy, Cassidy
I love you so
I raised you from a
newborn
And had I known what
I know now
I would still have done
it anyway
We have shared so many
wonderful experiences together
I love you so much Cassidy,
I love you so much

"ABOVE AND BEYOND"
Is that a bark in the
wind?
As you travel another
plain
Free from any discomfort
Young and carefree again
Be a guide to us below
When we travel rough
trails
Gently nudge us as should
we falter
Dealing with life's
travails
You were a dog to share
Your loyalty for 15
years
A heart so open for
caring
Corgi personality so
endearing
As you traverse the heavens
in spirit
Keep an ear turned and
eye open
For human and canine
buddies here earthbound
Ian is with you now
and eventually
The others will too
abound

Wishful
thinking, I think not
In heaven
Ian now resides
Ian's
love encompassed all he met
He touched
many hearts, they shall not forget
Rest and
be content, my Pembroke Prince
Until
we meet and part no more.

"RECALLING RICOLA"
Now with angel wings
You can see and do marvelous
things
Eternity's bridge has
been crossed
Mortal life's cares
are lost
Nearly four years in
our midst
You touched many hearts
With your doe shaped
eyes
Stare them down looks
and huge Corgi ears
As senior years progressed
you held your own
Though arthritis prone
Peanut butter biscuits
your favorite treat
Literally caused you
to walk on your hind feet
Time finally ran its
course
You had to leave us
As life's systems shut
down
In dignity you left
As your eyes closed
And your spirit flew
I felt paw reach out
to hand
Until we stand
On eternity's bridge
one more time
"JACOB"
"Jacob" thrived in foster care for too short a time but while not finding a permanent home did find a permanent foster home. Left for Rainbow Bridge 6/30/99. A beautiful golden coated Corgi/Lab mix male. Jacob has climbed his "ladder" to the bridge. Home at last.
Diabetes and blindness
Came to you at age 12
You never swerved
In your independence
Trooper that you were
Nearly two years
We shared
A caregiver status
You were and are
My inspiration

Tired and ill
Dog bite wounds
Broken jaw
You came to me
Asking for relief
I read your heart
and led you to

The Life
of Riley
7/99 - 3/6/00
Far too short - only
9 months
Sad and worried eyes
Tell the abuse you underwent
Huddled in the shelter
run
Alone and unsure
Worry not little Riley
You stole my heart
Away from the shelter
Into a foster home
You are not alone
So submissive, so unsure
Within a week you bloomed
Tail wagging, playful
and loving
You barked a happy bark
You wagged a happy tail
Sadly your weakened system
Harbored distemper
Brave little angel
It was too much
You left for the Bridge
3/6/00 - now an angel
forever
